Skytap Joins Forces with HP and Orasi to Power New CloudPerform Solution

Our customers repeatedly echoed the same challenge: how can we enable our dev/test teams to deliver high quality software on time and on budget? With the increasing adoption of the cloud, many enterprises are starting to realize how this new computing paradigm can effectively support this effort. In fact, according to Alexandra Weber Morales, a reporter at SD Times, “Testing was not on thought-leader lips when cloud hype thundered in a few years ago. Yet it’s now clear that testing may in fact be one of the best cases for cloud adoption, exceeding that for deployment.”

Today, we’re very excited to announce that Skytap has joined forces with HP and Orasi Software, a leading services provider and reseller of HP products, to power Orasi’s new CloudPerform offering. For HP and Orasi, Skytap was a natural fit for CloudPerform because of our longstanding leadership in the development and testing market. In fact, Skytap users have launched over one million virtual machines to date, with a good portion of these being used to enable efficient, effective and agile development and test teams.

This new product combines HP’s LoadRunner software with Skytap’s cloud infrastructure to help customers facilitate load and performance testing for web applications. By combining HP LoadRunner with the muscle of the Skytap Cloud, Orasi’s CloudPerform allows software testing teams to dramatically shorten their release cycles, while eliminating complications that come with on-premise, traditional application or software testing. To eliminate the complexity and expense of building specialized test environments, CloudPerform is offered as an on-demand solution and is available in 24-hour licensed increments.

CloudPerform showcases Skytap’s industry-leading public and hybrid cloud offering, which can be utilized by businesses for needs beyond basic infrastructure.  Skytap CEO Scott Roza explains, “Cloud computing has quickly evolved from commodity Infrastructure-as-a-Service offerings to value-added solutions which instantly solve real business and technical problems. Orasi’s CloudPerform offering is a compelling example of how Skytap can serve as a dynamic and flexible platform for broader solutions, and Skytap will continue to look at ways companies can leverage our service to deliver similar offerings.”

This announcement marks the second time in the last year that Skytap has collaborated with HP LoadRunner for software development and testing in the cloud. In June of 2011, Skytap integrated with HP’s Application Lifecycle Management suite to help customers access the full lifecycle of application development and testing in the cloud. With that announcement, customers can plan, build and release higher quality applications while leveraging the cloud for scalability and agility, while distributed teams can access cloud-based testing environments to enhance collaboration and sharing for rapid bug reproduction and issue resolution.
