It’s here. Enforcement of EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) goes into effect today (May 25th, 2018). Data protection and privacy are serious issues, now more than ever. At Skytap, we’re deeply focused on securing data because, as a cloud designed to modernize our customers’ most important applications, we are supporting mission-critical data on a daily basis.
With GDPR taking effect today, we felt it was important to provide clarity on our own data protection practices (and yes, join the many other companies doing the same thing).
Skytap maintains an active privacy and data protection program to ensure that we meet the high privacy and data protection standards outlined in the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and to enable our customers to meet their own GDPR obligations.
The bottom line is Skytap took data protection seriously long before GDPR, and will continue to do so as long as we’re in business. We have, and always will, treat all data, including contact information and other personal data, with care, respect, and privacy. GDPR is simply another opportunity for us to continue evolving and enhancing our data policies.
We review our data protection processes and systems on an ongoing basis with the aim to consistently deliver a secure, transparent experience tailored to the individual, for anyone who interacts with Skytap. Among a wide range of actions we’ve taken in recent months, we have enhanced our products and processes to provide:
- Clear Choices: Ensure our policies and processes make it easy and clear for everyone to choose what kinds of information they receive from us, understand what data of theirs we collect and process, and change their communication preferences at any time.
- Individualization: Deliver a customizable and personalized experience for contacts who choose to provide us with their information.
We have also updated and consolidated a range of resources to provide easy, transparent access to our data policies. These include:
We want to set the example for data protection in our industry. As GDPR, and our own ongoing work on data protection, continues to progress, we appreciate your patience and partnership in these processes.
