With IBM InterConnect only a couple weeks away in Las Vegas (Feb 21-25), we thought we’d give you the inside scoop on all of the places you can find us during the show. Skytap is going to have a huge presence at this year’s event; we’re presenting sessions, unveiling exciting new details about our partnership with IBM, talking about “Skytap on SoftLayer,” and so much more.
For more on how Skytap and IBM solutions work better together, check out this week’s press release.
This will be the largest participation in an event we’ve had to date, so as you’re building your own agenda for the week, check out some of the awesome discussions we’ll be leading around DevOps, bi-modal IT, on-demand dev/test environments, and application modernization strategies!
Evolving Traditional Applications to Containers Using IBM Development and Test Environment Services: Wednesday, Feb. 24th 3:45 PM – 4:30 PM
Skytap CTO/VP of Engineering, Brad Schick, is presenting this session on IBM Development and Test Environment Services (IDTES) that will show how on-demand access to consistent, repeatable, cloud-based environments enable businesses to modernize and uplift their traditional applications with a gradual approach and without the need to redesign applications from scratch.
Skytap is the cloud service that powers IDTES, and to help you better understand how on-demand access to production-ready, cloud-based environments are key to accelerating software delivery—check out this video, and stop by the IDTES hands-on lab detailed below!
IBM Development and Test Environment Services Hands-On Lab: Wednesday, Feb. 24th 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM
Skytap VP of Products, Brian White, and cloud solutions architect, Ralph Capasso, will show how IDTES provides the ability to rapidly clone and share production-ready development and test environments that “remove the inefficiencies and constraints around environment availability and consistency.” Don’t miss this chance to get firsthand experience with this exciting new offering!
How Skytap Uses IBM SoftLayer to Quickly Deploy New Data Centers and Handle Capacity Demands: Wednesday, Feb. 24th @8:30 AM – 9:30 AM
We just last week officially announced how IBM SoftLayer enabled us to deploy a new datacenter in under three weeks(!) and at InterConnect, IBM’s Jonathan Hahn, and Skytap VP of Operations, Paul Farrall, will share how you can “leverage similar techniques for your next deployment that contribute to explosive growth!”
For a sneak peek at Paul’s story, check out the video below and learn how Skytap and SoftLayer help enterprises meet business demands by solving the challenges around global scaling!
DevOps for Bi-Modal IT: A Panel Discussion: Tuesday, Feb. 23rd @4PM – 5 PM
Last but certainly not least, we’re really excited to have been invited to participate in this panel along with some real heavyweights in the DevOps space. Our own Brad Schick will join Carmen DeArdo from Nationwide Insurance, Tapabrata Pal from Capital One, and Sanjeev Sharma and Hayden Lindsey from IBM to discuss the hot-button topic of bi-modal IT. This panel will discuss how they’ve “adopted DevOps in a two-speed IT model, the challenges they faced, successes achieved, and lessons learned.”
DevOps.com recently held a Google Hangout with Brad, Carmen, and Sanjeev, where the three discussed some of what they’ll cover on this panel; if you missed it, here you go!
I think that covers it—I told you we’d be everywhere! If you’re attending IBM InterConnect, we’d love to see you at any or all of the above sessions, and whether you get to attend them or not, we’ll also be in booth #556 in the Expo. Stop by and say hello, check out a demo, pick up some Skytap merchandise, and let us know how you’re enjoying the conference.
